MFW | Trends and Highlights - SS16 Menswear Review (Part I - Jil Sander, Emporio Armani, Damir Doma, Vivienne Westwood, Dolce and Gabbana, Ermenegildo Zegna, Missoni, Bottega Veneta, Etro)

There were way too many good shows at Milan Fashion Week. For SS16, it was more than just a fashion collection, most labels pushed for a fully-fledged fashion SHOW and they were spectacular.

Part I: Jil Sander, Emporio Armani, Damir Doma, Vivienne Westwood,
Dolce and Gabbana, Ermenegildo Zegna, Missoni, Bottega Veneta, Etro

Jil Sander
The label knows modern menswear. Using an array of materials, Jil Sander's SS16 collection shows off creativity and taste. The modern take on denim shirts works extremely well with panelling. Many seasons on, the famous Jil Sander backpacks remain an essential part of every collection.

Damir Doma
One of the top top contemporary labels with extremely lab elements, Damir Doma's SS16 sticks true to its simplistic and unstructured appeal. The silhouette should be minimal and effortless. But the brand is also known for its innovative and eye-catching fashion accessories. Clearly.

Dolce and Gabbana
Powerhouses will be powerhouses. The Dolce and Gabbana shows are always the most amazing ones and the collections are always the most memorable. The collection dabs a bit of Oriental influences into the innately Sicilian form of the garments. Graphics have always been on Dolce and Gabbana's side.

Missoni
Despite being known for knitwear, this underrated label does not shy away from the SS season. With vibrant colours and light suits, this is a strong SS release for Missoni. The garments are all for the look but still some for the utilitarian man with sturdy jackets and pockets.

Etro
Every season, I become mesmerised by the patterns at the Etro house. But there is something different about this collection. Although the previous SS seasons also showed off amazing and excessive patterns (in a good way) in its suits, the palette and intricacy in this collection sets it apart. Also, although powerful and eye-catching, this season Etro also pushed out some pieces which were very minimalist. These broke up the parade and kept the pace of the whole show like a metronome. In ending with the gold suit, Etro made sure that this was a memorable collection.
