NYFW | This Time Like A Storm - Marc Jacobs SS14 Review

Closing off New York Fashion Week, Marc Jacobs was the most highly anticipated show. During the 5 days, I was waiting to see Cara Delavigne at the shows as one of the most popular models in recent years. She appeared only in one show. For the one and only Marc Jacobs. The theme for this show was dark to say the least. Most of the pieces were serious gowns and jackets full of detail, tassels and texture. Except one... the sweatshirt that resembled the Coca-Cola Logo. What?

You can check out the photos of the show here.

Everything was elaborate and explosive. The top heavy looks with full volume jackets and cropped shorts were great at creating contrast and structure. Tassels and frayed fringes were definitely the main motif, appearing in bags, shoes and everywhere in the pieces. Embroidered flowers were beautiful in the frenzied show. It was very nice to see these placed along with the large print flowers. Strong shoulders were masculine and complemented the darker tones. A pair of luminous flowery shoes caught my eyes.

Dark floral patterns made it more interesting to examine the looks closely. Intricate details are what differentiates designers and Marc Jacobs' floral and crocodile scale embossed patent leather bags were something to note. But I think the gowns were a bit full on.
